Discovering Your Unique Ability

Discovering Your Unique Ability

The man, who is born with a talent which he is meant to use, finds his greatest happiness in using it. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Im sure youd agree that most people spend a lot of their time doing things theyre not passionate about. As you read through the following four categories think about how much time you spend in each area.

Incompetence: these are the activities that you don't do well and that you have no interest in doing. When you spend time in the area of incompetence theres no potential for your growth, advancement, or fulfillment.

Competence: these are the activities that you perform reasonably well, but you have no real interest in doing. When you spend time in the area of competence theres very little potential for your growth, advancement, or fulfillment. In other words, youre okay at these things, but most likely you'll never stand out.

Excellence: these are the activities that you do really well, but youre still not passionate about doing them. Others recognize your skill in these activities, but in your heart you don't really enjoy them. When you spend time the area of excellence you may experience some growth and advancement, but you will not feel truly fulfilled.

Unique Ability: these are the activities that you naturally perform well and really enjoy doing. When you spend time in the area of unique ability youll find an endless potential for growth, advancement, and more importantly personal happiness and fulfillment.

So, a surefire way to increase the amount of happiness you experience in your life is to identify your Unique Abilities and put them to use in as many ways as possible.

Your Unique Abilities are the essence of your lifes purpose and hold clues to what will truly fulfill you, and the more fulfilled you are, the happier youll be!

The first step in identifying and leveraging your Unique Abilities is to get some feedback on how others see you.

I suggest you initially speak with three people you know from different areas of your life (i.e., work, family, friends, etc.). Explain the four categories (incompetence, competence, excellence, and unique ability) and ask them what they see as your Unique Abilities.

Try to get them to be specific. In other words, if they say one of your Unique Abilities is "accounting," ask them what exactly made them say that. Maybe it's your ability with numbers, or organization, or problem solving. It doesnt matter what it is, just get them to be as precise as possible with each Unique Ability that is identified.

After youve gathered this feedback you can begin to ask yourself the following questions:

- Where might I use these abilities?
- What environment?
- How can I let these abilities come through more often?

These questions and any others like them that you can think of will offer you clues to where and how you can experience a greater amount of happiness and satisfaction in your life.

Dangers of 'Buy Now, Pay Later!'

Dangers of 'Buy Now, Pay Later!'

Great marketing tempts us to use credit everywhere these days, and ours is a culture of I want it now so... buy now, pay later. This popular belief that living beyond ones means is a normal lifestyle is simply NOT true. A normal, healthy financial situation does not include buying anything you want on credit and just paying later. In fact, you should avoid using credit as much as possible, or altogether. Just what are healthy finances? Find out at here.
Dangers of Buy Now, Pay Later
Proof of how dangerous it is to buy now, pay later is all around us. The Enron and WorldCom disasters early in the 21st century show how poor credit policies can bring on loan defaults and bankruptcies. Failed savings and loan institutions and the resulting $500 billion bailout of the 1990s placed our country in severe financial danger.

The credit and mortgage crisis of 2007 showed how relaxed qualifications and over extending credit not only affected thousands of families but severely damaged the economy. No one is immune to debt - governments, big business, families and individuals are all hurt when they abuse it. Loan defaults and bankruptcies are skyrocketing!

Easy Consumer Credit on the Rise
After World War II, greater availability of consumer credit drastically increased the number of Americans in debt. Marketing experts introduced three new credit strategies still enslaving American consumers today:

1. The Easy Payment Plan. This credit strategy was to advertise a low monthly payment instead of the total cost of merchandise. Consumers were persuaded to shift from saving to pay cash for things, to only looking at how much the payments would be. It worked like a charm!

2. Long-Term Mortgages. Long-term G.l. housing loans were offered to veterans returning from the war. Soon long-term mortgages became the standard of home finance. 30-year mortgages became the rule. Long-term car loans soon followed; many are 6 years - the skies the limit!

3. Credit Cards, Bank Guarantees, and Lines of Credit. Since no collateral was required, credit became easy for Americans to obtain. The high interest rates and fees charged made the lending companies rich. It became very easy for consumers to buy almost anything on credit.

Easy credit has also changed the way people think about and spend money. Studies show that people spend more money when they use credit vs. cash. Many consumers now consider available credit just like cash in the bank. Credit has turned the majority of individuals and families in America into debtors with all its pressure and burdens. If youre in debt, youre not alone. According to the Federal Reserve, Americans are in $1.98 trillion of debt, more than $18,000 per household.

Its ALL about Interest! People who understand interest - EARN it, people who dont - PAY it. Youre not only buying things you cant afford now - but youre paying much more than the sticker price. When you buy on credit you pay your creditor compound interest. According to Albert Einstein, Compound interest is the greatest invention known to man. But its only great if youre on the receiving end, NOT paying it! The wealthy understand this concept, see what they know that you dont at FH4L.

Be the exception! Dont buy into the mindset that consumer lines of credit and debt are part of healthy finance. Theyre NOT. Carefully managed credit is a powerful and useful tool. When used wisely, credit can be very effective in building businesses, establishing credit, and even building wealth. But unmanaged credit quickly becomes out-of-control debt. When it reaches this point it often becomes harmful and even devastating. If you dont have the cash, ask yourself do you really need it and is it really worth it. Keep your emotions in check and resist the powerful marketing and sales messages designed to entice you into buying now and paying later.

It can seem impossible to eliminate debt from your life, but you have the power within you to make the necessary financial changes, and establish new habits based on proven, successful money management fundamentals. Then you can not only pay off your debt, but youll be able to build wealth! FH4L can put you on the right path to financial health.

Clarity, Confidence, Conviction

Clarity, Confidence, Conviction

The beginning of a New Year feels the same as when I begin a new journal. All the pages are fresh and blank inside a beautiful bound book, ready to be filled with the adventures of my life. This feeling is both exciting and full of the anxiety as I anticipate the unfolding of this New Year. The one thing I know is that I have taken my finger off the pause button and am ready to live full-out! As the lead coach of Living at YES! I am committed to saying YES! to life. How about you?

Have you set your intentions for the year, begin to have clarity in what you want to create for the year or is your life still on hold waiting until you know exactly what it is you want? Are you answering, Ummaybe, I dont know, lets wait and see. How many times have you heard yourself offer this response? Did you realize that these responses are much like pushing the hold button to experiencing life? Your life is on hold when you are not living at yes?

Living at YES! means you live your life full-out. You are open to possibilities, to opportunities. It means you live your life with Clarity, Conviction and Confidence. Living at YES! means you have learned how to enjoy the present moment and that you embrace all that life has to offer. You have become more fully empowered, allowing life to unfold before you with ease.

Living at YES! does not mean that you say, yes to everything that comes your way. When you live at yes you are empowered to say no. There is a verse in the Christian Holy Book that says, Let your yea be yea and your nay be nay. In other words, be clear in your choice.

Clarity
Living in the power of choice means that you are not a victim to lifes circumstances. When you know you have a choice, you are living in freedom.
In order to be clear on your choice, you are first acknowledging that you have a choice.

I dont know and maybe are phrases of doubt. When you live in the energy of doubt, you are shut down to life. Once shut down, you soon begin to lack the confidence necessary to take the next step moving you forward into your life. and doubt soon grows into fear. Living in doubt and fear can soon become paralyzing. Once paralyzed, choice is not an option and you feel like a victim. When you live your life as victim, life responds by creating more circumstances that support you feeling like a victim. The life force energy, now being cut off from its natural flow, will begin to be reflected in your health, your relationships, your physical body and in you wallet. You may begin to experience stiff joints, a decrease in your cash flow and an increase in your waist size. You may begin to experience stress in your relationships and just too many hard days at the office.

Living in doubt is like having a hidden virus in your computer, the invisible bug that has been slowly creeping its way into your files, contaminating them. You only notice it when you realize you have become locked out and unable to access what you need.

Life offers us basically two choices. One choice is to repel life and the other choice is to embrace life. We are either embracing or repelling. When you live in doubt, you are actually making the choice to push life away. Ironically, what we are pushing away is what we want to experience most.

I once heard someone say that when we say, I dont know, we are really saying, I am too afraid to take any action; I am too afraid to take the next step towards embracing life. I dont know is really a response that signifies that one is shutting down.

Moving forward with Confidence

A survey by a Harvard Psychologist showed there are two things that make people happy. One is that they know exactly what they want - clarity; and two, they know they were moving towards getting it confidence. Life feels great when you realize your goal and know you are confidently moving towards it. What is confidence and what gives someone confidence?

Confidence is having a feeling of trust within yourself. When you live with confidence, you are feeling good about yourself and you trust that you will respond to lifes situations in an empowering way. Like self-esteem, confidence grows as you place your awareness onto it. Every action you take that you can feel good about, every step forward that you take, even when feeling the fear and doing it anyway, builds your levels of confidence. Confidence builds as you build your confidence one-experienceat-a-time.

Quoting myself from last weeks article, when you live in the energy of doubt, you are shut down to life. Once shut down, you soon begin to lack the confidence necessary to take the next step, moving you forward into your life. Doubt soon grows into fear. Living in doubt and fear can often become paralyzing. Once paralyzed, choice is not an option and you feel like a victim. When you live your life as victim, life responds by creating more circumstances that support you feeling like a victim. The life force energy is being cut off from its natural flow.

In the movie, The Secret, Jack Canfield offered the following analogy. You can drive from NY to CA in the dark with your headlights shining only 200 feet ahead of you. Once you have clarity, you can take the next right step towards your goal with confidence. You put yourself in the natural flow of the life energy force trusting that you will know what to do next. Your level of confidence builds each step of the way.

Remember that we are all a little unsure when we try something new. Our confidence may get rattled a bit, but when you can step back and sit in your clarity, you recommit with conviction.

Conviction
The word conviction means having a strong persuasion or belief. I heard this word frequently spoken in a former religious setting. It would be common to hear someone say they have a strong conviction for Christ. Meaning, they have a strong belief, they are convicted, in the teachings of the religion. Lets take the word conviction out of the religious context. What are your convictions?

In the core of you, what are your beliefs? When you examine your core, what is the Truth that lies deep within you? My studies in metaphysics have taught me the importance of knowing what I believe. I learned that my beliefs are the basis of how I interpret my lifes experiences. How I view and respond to my lifes experiences is based on what I believe. My beliefs are formed by the thoughts I have, which are fueled by my emotions.

What strong beliefs do you have? What perceptions of the world do you hold firmly as your Truth? When we came into this world, we entered free of thinking. We were just busy having fun. Then, as time passed, we were programmed and trained on how to perceive and respond to the world.

At the beginning of this series, I stated that Living at YES! means you live your life full out. You have learned to enjoy the present moment and you embrace all that life has to offer. When you examine your beliefs, do they empower you to live in full expression? Do your beliefs allow you to stretch your comfort zone?

Empower yourself to stop and explore the beliefs that hold you back, that keep you from really being who you are and doing what you are meant to do in this lifetime. Empower yourself to live with strong conviction, making the necessary changes from the inside out.

Make it a priority in your life to live with Clarity, Confidence and Conviction.

Building and Sustaining Positive Relationships in the Workplace

Building and Sustaining Positive Relationships in the Workplace

Its Monday morning and youve only been at the office for acouple of hours. The phone has not stopped ringing, youve barelymade a dent in your emails, there is a project deadline looming,a team meeting to lead and your boss is concerned and hasslingyou about the project outcome. Does any of this sound familiar toyou? Does it feel overwhelming?

The truth is that order to be successful, productive and lessstressed, you need positive, supportive relationships at work. Here are the 7 keys to developing them.

1. Foster a willingness to listen. Good listening skills arenecessary in order to succeed in establishing good relationshipswith managers, colleagues, and employees. While talking less andlistening more can be a challenge at times, its important tosuspend your own needs and reactions in order "hear" what anotherperson is saying.

2. Promote a willingness to work collaboratively. Collaborationor "working together" is an extremely important team concept. This means noticing and responding to the comments and requestsof others. Each member of the team has value and a role to playso if one or two team members attempt to be "in charge" and viewthemselves as more valuable, the effectiveness of the whole teammay be greatly reduced.

3. Endeavor to be respectful. The old adage "you catch more flieswith honey than vinegar" holds true. Showing respect to others, even if they are unpleasant and rude, exhibits a strong sense ofself.

4. Respond in a timely fashion. Evaluate how timely you are inresponding to others. Remember, your response may affectdecisions or someone elses ability to complete projects. Whenyou let someone know you have received their message but donthave the data they require, at least they know you arentignoring them. Often much time, energy and frustration isexpended because people dont acknowledge a message or request.

5. Find a mentor. A mentor understands the company culture, howdecisions are made and office protocol. Your mentor is willing toanswer your questions, share their wisdom and challenge you.Developing a relationship with a mentor can help you transitioninto a company, a new department or a different job. Having amentor can help you manage and thrive in a competitiveenvironment.

6. Eliminate the negativity. Examine your behavior to be surethat youre not a chronic complainer who never has anythingpositive to say, the boss who yells at employees under the guiseof motivating them, or the person who always blames others fortheir problems. Youll also want to limit contact with thesetoxic influences as much as possible.

7. Surround yourself with supportive people. People who value, encourage and support you are invaluable both in the workplaceand in your personal life. They help you problem solve and dealwith the challenges you encounter. They encourage you even whileasking tough questions. They dont always agree with you butrather are with you through "thick and thin". Identify thesupportive people in your life and let them know how much youappreciate them.

Evaluate your work environment and ask yourself:What kind ofrelationships do I want and need?

Building a Conducive School Climate

Building a Conducive School Climate

Every school is perceived as unique and has its own climate. Some schools are seen as better or worse than they are, some repulsive while others fostering. The climate of a school can be affected by factors from classroom management, professional community, sense of personal efficacy and the teachers beliefs about students ability.

The importance of understanding and handling a positive learning climate is apparent . Studies shows undoubtedly that schools identified as being optimistic, secure, and encouraging atmospheres firmed on learners education do better than schools that deficient of this climate. Pleasant teaching-learning climate that motivates learners to value learning, the belief that learners can do better in their school work are among the learner-centered practices teachers need to extend to their learners. Efficient teachers create classroom climates in which academic rigor and intellectual challenge are accompanied by the emotional support and encouragement necessary to meet that challenge.

Similarly, encouraging open communication and trust among the members of the school community, stimulating discussion of important issues and providing task relevant information at appropriate times; assisting the analysis of external factors such as competition, external threats, environment problems and opportunities, the development of norms and roles within the group are helpful steps to achieve inter group dynamics that help people do task easily.

Considerably, the goals of the people working together in the school as well as the goals of the group as a whole is important. Developing a reward structure that enables people to realize their goals by working towards the group can result in a very productive group endeavor of creating a helpful school climate.

The advantages of building a favorable positive learning environment are clear; such school will be a place that learners like coming to each day, an institution for which parents will be appreciative and labored to sustain, and a cause of pleasure and inspiration for the community.

When promoting for a favorable school climate for learning, advocates of transform strategies must gaze at their teachers, the parents, and the people of the school and work together in one direction, focusing on the hindrance and the solutions to be done.

Eventually, creating a conducive school climate is a must. Nevertheless it can be extremely complicated for educators to alter the way people believe, when things start stepping in the right track, encouraging outcome will closely be seen.

The greatest gain for any educator who victoriously manages to develop his or her school climate is the certain awareness of ones person, social group, and others, because recognizing what people feel and think permits them to be motivated and guided.

Book Review The Real Truth about Success

Book Review The Real Truth about Success

Book Review: The Real Truth about Success: What the Top 1 Percent Do Differently, Why They Wont Tell You, and How You Can Do it Anyway by Garrison Wynn.

This is a book that takes a real look at what makes people successful and the fact that what makes them successful is almost certainly not what you think (or at least youll change your mind by the time you get to the end of the book). Dissatisfied with the standard answers he got from nearly 5,000 professionals, Mr. Wynn set out to find out the truththe real reason these people were successful. We all know people that do all the right things and yet success eludes them. Yet, here were people who did some of the right things, but not all, didnt do them any differently than anyone else, and yet were successful. Why? By using persistence and wit, he convinced many of these highly successful people to agree to a more in depth interviews. The results of these interviews give him answers that were sometimes common sense, sometimes surprising, and sometimes the result of hard work.

He debunks three of the classic reasons people cite for their success: 1) The power of positive thinking propels you to success; 2) to have greater influence, what you have to offer must be bigger, better, more advanced, or greatly enhanced to surpass its competitors; 3) genius is the foundation of success. He then replaces them with several skills that everyone has, but most people dont use (or dont know how to use) including personal relationships, what other people want from you, and understanding how you are perceived by others (and using that to your advantage), and other secret advantages. He then goes on to tell you exactly how to implement these advantages in your life.

With great real-life stories and humor, Wynn outlines the ways you too can be successful, how to use your disadvantages to your advantage and make the most of what you have. You can use what you can learn from this book whether you are in business or just trying to get through life. The book is easy to read and full of great ideas. This book is a must for anyones personal development library.

Garrison Wynn is a former professional stand-up comedian and the founder of Wynn Solutions, a firm that provides business strategies and influence techniques to audiences around the world. In his teens, Wynn worked with Magnavox and Hank Aaron to promote the worlds first video gaming system, and by age 27, he became the youngest department head in a Fortune 500 companys history. Become A Better Motivator

Become A Better Motivator

Become a better motivator. Everything rises and falls on leadership. There are two components to leadership. How you lead others. Are you a great motivator? Thats the more obvious one. The second one is how you lead yourself. Are you a good motivator for yourself?
How you are a motivator for yourself will affect the motivator in your leadership of others.
Small business success and small business growth are about many things. But one of the most important is the motivator style of the owner. When you are running a small business or starting up your own business this can be a make or break proposition.
Why? Business conditions and circumstances will change. Usually how you are as a motivator will not. Sometimes all that has to change is how we motivate ourselves and others to have the success we desire.

Motivator Style-Compulsion

Whether you are a self-employed business owner, entrepreneur, solo professional or an individual your motivator style will determine your long-term success.
If you are compelled to do something by someone else the odds are that the relationship will neither be happy or fruitful for the long-term. You can enjoy some short-term success and satisfaction through compulsion. But, ultimately being a motivator by compelling others to do something is a form of slavery.
Compulsion has its place in motivation. But compulsion is about doing something that for the most part you dont agree with or dont see the value.

If you are a motivator who primarily uses compulsion then I can assure you that your life is short on happiness, satisfaction and trust.
As I said, compulsion has its place but use it wisely.

Motivator StylePersuasion

This motivator style, unlike compulsion which can feel like a form of slavery, is the method of free men. Persuading requires an understanding of what makes people tick, and what motivates them, that requires a knowledge of human nature.
Great leaders possess this knowledge.
This motivator style requires more thought on your part. If you are motivating yourself through persuasion then you have to buy into a concept logically and emotionally. It can take more time. But, the long-term rewards with stability and satisfaction are immense.

The Best Motivator Is Usually The Best Leader

In a survey seventy psychologists were asked: What is the most essential thing for a supervisor to know about human nature? Two-thirds said that motivationan understanding of what makes people think, feel, and act as they dois uppermost.
When you understand what motivates people, you have at your command the most powerful tool for dealing with them.
Seek to understand what motivates you and those around you or who work for you. When you do you will become a better motivator and a more influential leader.

Be Selfish With Your Goals

Be Selfish With Your Goals

Image source: http://cdn.amightygirl.com/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/3/e/3ed7ae2cb09c82372b6e289fede180ad_1_.jpg

All too often good-intentioned people set forth goals designed to satiate others rather than themselves. While the intent is honorable, the results will likely lead to failure. Why? As the somewhat provocative title of this article indicates, you need to be selfish with your goals and select ones that mean something to you.

Through segments on the evening news, magazines, talk shows, radio programming and even the advice of family and friends, we are consistently subjected to a whole litany of goals that anyone with half a brain should strive for. If we were to listen to all the experts, we would all need to be perfectly fit and rich individuals with at least two college majors under our belt.

Baloney.

Now I won't deny that there are tremendous benefits to being physically fit, financially well off or highly educated, but let's be honest here one doesn't require all of the above to live a successful and happy life. There are many somewhat overweight individuals that are quite happy to escape the annoyances of careful food selection and exercise and instead focus on earning money or spending time with family. By the same token, there are many physically fit individuals that see no need to bring in extraordinary levels of income to be happy; they would just as well get by with what they need to live.

I firmly believe all of us should constantly strive to improve ourselves, but there is no single blueprint that we should all follow. What might be important to me (business and management) might not be important to you, and vice versa. For this reason, when you are determining which goals you would like to pursue you should always block out the wishes of others and select goals that are dear to your heart.

This sounds incredibly selfish, but obviously I'm not advocating adopting a goal that would hurt others, and ideally in a committed relationship you and your significant other would share common goals. But when push comes to shove, if you choose a goal for someone else rather than yourself you will do yourself a huge disservice.

Take, for example, weight loss. Many overweight people lead happy and successful lives despite their weight; you don't have to be as fit as a fiddle to be happy. Let's say one of these somewhat overweight individuals decided one day to finally buckle under the constant societal harping about the benefits of weight loss and begin a diet program. What would happen?

Chances are very high the individual would adjust his diet and get off to a good start. Almost all of us are capable of losing a few pounds during the first couple weeks, particularly since much of the initial weight loss is water. But during this time chances are good the dieter will be fairly unhappy, and this unhappiness will fester over time. Eventually when the body stops losing water weight and shifts into fat loss, the weight loss will slow down to about a pound or two a week.

Throughout the diet the dieter's morale and optimistic outlook on life will suffer, and this might even affect other areas he was already successful with, such as his relationship with his family or his business. Eventually he will quit his diet in disgust, and immediately upon reverting to his old eating habits he will not only gain what he lost he'll also gain even more! Diets play havoc with the body's metabolism, so more often than not a person that quits a diet will end up weighing far more than had they never dieted to begin with.

Clearly weight loss is a fantastic goal that can provide a lifetime of benefits, but it isn't for everyone! If you are not passionate about such a goal, you could actually harm other areas of your life when stress is added and morale and motivation drops due to your lifestyle change, and then to add insult to injury you just might end up being heavier than you were had you not even tried to adopt to society's standards.

The above example holds true for every single goal under the sun. Many people love the business world and all its risks and challenges, but others would rather avoid the stressful situations and problems that all businessmen face. Perhaps they would rather live a middle-class lifestyle, stay physically fit and enjoy hiking or camping trips with a partner over the weekends during the time the business-oriented are probably working overtime.

Choose only the goals that are compatible with your desires and needs, because selecting an incompatible goal that society or family advocates is a virtually guaranteed formula for failure, and can very easily do more harm than good.

Barriers To Success- 10 Obstacles That Will Stop You In Your Tracks

Barriers To Success- 10 Obstacles That Will Stop You In Your Tracks

Image source: https://image.slidesharecdn.com/helping-you-manage-your-lifestyle-motivation-management-editted-1210860891519065-9/95/helping-you-manage-your-lifestyle-motivation-management-20-728.jpg?cb=1210836087

Wanting success and actually achieving success are two totally different things.

Barriers To SuccessWe all dream of having millions in the bank, the ideal job, the luxury house, the dream car and the perfect partner, but for us to have any chance of achieving all this then we must first be aware of the common barriers to success that were likely to run into.

As the saying goes forewarned is forearmed.

Therefore being aware of these common and debilitating barriers to success beforehand will better prepare you to deal with any obstacles and challenges that get in your way.

1. Poor attitude.

Our attitude is without doubt the biggest determinant to what kind of results we get in life.

Our attitude determines what we think and do, which ultimately determines what we create.

How many of us fail to get off first base or simply follow through with our plans because we sabotage our ability and results with toxic thoughts and negative self-talk.

2. Lack of Goals

Many people go through life without setting themselves any goals.

Without goals you have no map of where you want to go and what you want to achieve

Goals are vital cog in achieving successstart setting them!!!!

3. Self doubt.

The demon of self-doubt is one of the major barriers in preventing people from achieving success and realizing their goals.

Negative thoughts about whether were good enough to succeed often leads to us talking ourselves out of starting anything.

4. Giving Up

Weve all been guilty of quitting at one time or other.

I recently read a quote by Anthony Robbins When it looks impossible and you are ready to quit, victory is near.

This so truejust ask R.U Darby and his uncle.

5. Fear of Failure

There is nothing wrong with having a fear of failing. Everyone fears failure. Even the Richard Bransons and the Bill Gates of the world have been struck by the fear of failure at some point.

However, what you must ensure is to never let it paralyze and stop you from taking action.

The purpose of fear is not to restrict or inhibit, but to heighten our senses, increase our focus, and instill us with drive and determination

6. Poor planning.

Poor planning and implementation drastically reduce your chances of success. Proper strategic planning is a key requirement if failure and disappointment are to be avoided.

7. Procrastination

Your life is not a dress rehearsal. You only get one chance so dont keep putting things off for tomorrow. Try and do something everyday which will bring you closer to realizing your goals

8. Listening To The Doubters and Naysayers

Avoid listening to negative comments or messages from family, friends or acquaintances. Their negative opinions will only serve to put you down, leading to you questioning and doubting your abilities to succeed.

9. Lack of Discipline And Self Control

Being able to resist distractions and temptations that get in the way of you achieving your goals is vital to ultimate success.

Discipline and self-control enables you to stick at things, persevere and follow through with any given tasks and projects.

10. Laziness

It so easy to slip into our old lazy routines, sit back and just wait for things to happen.

Unfortunately, nothing worthwhile is achieved without effort and hard work.

Success only arrives when we do what it takeswhen we go that extra mile.

Success is something we all want savior. However, realizing notable success comes with many challenges

A good starting point is to firstly identify the major barriers to success so that you can then take the necessary steps and actions to accomplishing all that you want.

Author's Bio:

Achieving success is never straightforward. For some it may come easy but for the majority it takes it takes a lot of time and hard work to. Overcome the barriers to success by following a simple formula that ensures your goals are achieved and your dreams are realized.

Balance and Well-Being through the Seven Dimensions of Health

Balance and Well-Being through the Seven Dimensions of Health

A tool that helps bring awareness to all the areas of our lives that contribute to wellness are the Seven Dimensions of Health. The premise is that every area of our lives contributes to our health and needs to be given the same amount of energy.

What Are the Seven Dimensions of Health and How Do We Use Them?

Physical

This dimension focuses on the body. It is about the degree of efficiency in the systems of the body. In the physical dimension, we bring attention to our nutrition, our cardiovascular health, and our strength, flexibility, and balance. We also look at our ability to deal with stress, the quality of our sleep, and the amount of quiet/meditative time we spend. The human body actually gains energy and vitality from use. There are many options available designed to provide balanced physical fitness. Some examples are Pilates, yoga, Tai Chi, and strength training as well as running, walking, and hiking. It is not so important what we do to exercise the body as that we are consistent in the practice and that we bring a joyful attitude.

Mental

The mental dimension refers to how we take in, process, and communicate information. It is based on the belief that all people are unique in this regard. What we think springs from what we believe. Our beliefs form how we view the world. It is important to be aware of our unique style of processing information. We can learn about the ways other people operate so we can be more harmonious with the people in our lives. Some ways to access this dimension are through meditation, reading books, and attending specialized workshops designed to enhance our understanding of how we process and communicate information. One example is Emergenetics, a workshop that focuses on the blend of genetics and learned experiences expressed as a behavior and a way of thinking. Rapport Leadership International is a company that offers several courses on personal development that are also excellent tools for evolving our mental dimension of health. The key is education. We must embrace our unique way of living, while celebrating the differences in all the people around us.

Social

Our social health is really about who we choose to spend our time with. It cannot be understated how important the company we keep is to our health. When we have surrounded ourselves with people who enhance us, we feel energized in their presence. The opposite is also true. It is important to remember that like energy attracts. We draw to us people who are vibrating with the same energy we are putting out into the universe. The best way to make a change in our social atmosphere is to place a focus on being the person we want to be.

Occupational

Our occupational dimension includes all the roles we choose to occupy during our waking hours. Many people spend around half of their day working, yet we overlook how that time affects our wellness. Many elements of our occupation alter our ability to maintain balance. It is important to bring awareness to the amount of passion we have for our work. Can we pursue our full potential in our current situation? Do we stifle parts of our personality at work?

Awareness in this dimension can have a tremendous effect on our overall health. If our current situation is not working for us, we have choices. We can change our attitude or focus our energy in a new direction. We are always facing a choice about how we feel regarding our life circumstances.

Environmental

Lets consider the spaces we occupy. We begin by bringing awareness to our immediate surroundings, such as our homes, our vehicles, and our work spaces, and work outward to include larger spaces such as our communities, our countries, and our planet. Often, the condition of our overall well-being is reflected in our personal space. When we look at our surroundings, we can get clear about whether they express who we are and who we want to be. Often, all that is necessary is to give attention to a space. It can be as simple as painting a room or adding a plant to a cubicle. It may be as large an undertaking as replanting a burned forest. Our spaces provide a wonderful opportunity to express our passion and personality.

Emotional

This dimension is centered around the emotions we attach to the events in our lives. Everything that happens can be labeled as an event. It is natural for us to have emotional reactions to events. Each emotion we attach has a result that can directly affect every other dimension. We move toward balance once we take ownership over the emotions we feel in response to the events in our lives. Things happen all day, every day that are out of our control, from wars between nations to the mood of a loved one or coworker. Once we are able to confidently say to ourselves, I am in control over how I feel about any event, we can maintain balance in our emotional dimension, no matter what happens.

Spiritual

The spiritual dimension deals with our awareness of the piece of us that makes us unique, an awareness of something larger than ourselves. The focus is on becoming clear about what we believe in down to our core and connecting (or reconnecting) with those beliefs. This dimension is the culmination of working toward balance in all the other dimensions of health. When we are doing the things necessary to pursue balance in the other six dimensions, we free up more energy for the pursuit of spiritual balance. For some the avenue is through their religion. Others find that a simple activity such as meditation provides a very deep spiritual experience. A consistent practice in meditation is one of the most widely accepted methods by which one can work on the spiritual dimension of health. Physical activities exercise the body and quiet the mind, helping us rid ourselves of the multitude of distractions that keep us from spirit. No matter what practice we choose, the connection (or reconnection) with our spirit is the most important thing.

Conclusion

Thinking of well-being in terms of the Seven Dimensions of Health is an effective way of breaking a large challenge into smaller, manageable pieces. Seeking balance in terms of health and well-being is a lifelong journey without a final destination. The only constant in life is change, and we must continually stay active in our pursuit of balance. In focusing on each dimension, the key is cultivating self-awareness. We must accept and take ownership of our current circumstances. Once we are cognizant of where we are, we can plan our journey. The Seven Dimensions of Health are a wonderful planning tool.

Australia - A Perfect Country for Overseas Studies

Australia known as "land of kangaroos" has emerged as a perfect destination for overseas studies among the international students due to innovative and unique academic program.

It is witnessing an influx of Indian students for graduate and postgraduate studies. The cost of living and tuition cost is also comparatively less than that of other countries, such as the US and the UK.

But what makes Australia a perfect destination for overseas studies for Indians (www.y-axis.com/admissions/overseas-education/) is as follows:

1. Tough Immigration Laws in the US:

The immigration laws and work rights in the US have been posing a tough challenge to the international students. It has created a sense of insecure among the Indian students, especially among the professionals.

Contrary to this, Australia extends a warm welcome to the overseas students due to its multicultural and vibrant environment.

The University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne are the most acclaimed ones for opting studies in various disciplines whether Engineering, Physical Sciences, or Humanities. These universities are also positioned at the top 50 in the world.

2. Gain Work Experience and Money:

Students also get to earn money along with work experience to sustain their stay.

High-quality teaching and research opportunities are offered by Australian varsities, Monash University, and Griffith University that provide high-end research facilities for those keen in Science.

3. Practical Work Experience:

The Australian government provides post-study Work Visas to the international students. It enables them to work and gain experience full time for two to four years to lead a well-settled life.

So the Indian students applying for student visa could leverage this opportunity and establish a strong foothold globally.

4. High Employability and Pay Back Education Loan:

Due to the high employability rate in Australia, students can recover expenses incurred on living costs and tuition fees in two years.

Besides these, study and work experience also valorizes CVs for the brighter prospects.

5. Scholarship Programs:

Despite the education is expensive in Australia, Indian students have formed the chunk of foreign students due to various scholarship programs.

The scholarship programs relieve students from financial burden and debt.

6. Education Fee:

Most of the reputable Universities in Australia charge more than AUD 10,000 for undergraduate courses and more than AUD 30,000 for Postgraduate and Ph.D. courses.

Australian Universities provide multiple opportunities to the students in any sphere they choose.

Business and Management Degree Programs is the course in demand among the Indian students in Australia that includes IT, MBA, Accounting, and Hotel Management.

Melbourne Business School and Macquarie Graduate School of Management are the universities offering best courses in Management.

Are you an optimist or pessimist

Are you an optimist or pessimist

I have been giving some thought lately to optimism and pessimism. Basically, these are attitudes. Attitudes that shape and formulate our entire existence. I mean, have you ever met a happy pessimist? Of course not.

In short, our optimism or pessimism is this:

The way we interpret the past
The way we experience and view the present
The way we imagine the future
Have you given much thought about how your attitude, whether you are an optimist or a pessimist, affects you business, organization or school? Have you thought about how it affects you personally? And what about the team you are a part of?

What is optimism? It is a belief that things in our past were good for us, even if that means they were hard and taught us lessons. It is also the belief that things will be better in the future.

Here are some contrasts between optimism and pessimism and how they affect us:
Optimism breathes life into you each day
Pessimism drains you

Optimism helps you to take needed risks
Pessimism plays it safe and never accomplishes much

Optimism improves those around you
Pessimism drags them down

Optimism inspires people to great heights
Pessimism deflates people to new lows
There is only one way that optimism and pessimism are the same and that is that they are both self-fulfilling. If you are an optimist, you will generally find that good things happen to you. And if you are a pessimist, you will find yourself in the not-so-good situations more often than not.
So can a person just become an optimist? Yes! We can choose to look at the world any way we want to. We can choose to look at the world and think the worst, or we can tell ourselves the good things about each situation. As you find yourself looking at your enterprise, begin to view it through the eyes of an optimist, and you will reap the rewards listed above, and so will the people around you.

There are tremendous benefits to being an optimist, as stated above. But there are some pessimists out there who will say, But that isnt realistic. I say Who cares? If things go awry, at least I have spent my time beforehand enjoying life and not worrying about it. And, being an optimist, I would view the negative situation as an opportunity to grow and learn. So I can even look forward to my failures because they will be stepping stones, and learning tools to be applied to my future success.

Have you ever met a successful pessimist? Become an optimist and see your world change before your eyes!

Acknowledging your strengths

Acknowledging your strengths

Incredible strengths

There is incredible talent in every one of us. You have an artistic streak in you or your manner in dealing with people is extraordinary. You may stand out for your culinary skills or for your green thumb. You are remarkably good at taking care of things or just simply telling stories.

Whether innate or acquired, the talent, the skill, the flair follows us wherever we go. While some of us become well aware of our strengths early on and we see to it that they are explored, others dont emphasize them enough or just simply forget how much they are capable of doing. It takes no more than looking back into your life story to realize or to rediscover forgotten skills.

Study your personal history

Create your own timeline. Start from as early as you can. Write down all the memories, the events, all the life changing moments, the twists and turns, every challenge, the decisions you made and the outcomes. Your life, family, education, work, hobbies, activities, journeys, will provide you with the proof you need to see how far youve come. You will be able to look back and see how much you have accomplished and all of that on the strengths of your own talents.

Study your resum

You take great care to write the most effective resume for prospective employers to read. Your goal is to lay all your talent out for them and convince them that you are the talent they are seeking. All your potential, all your skills and accomplishments are there in black and white. Before you can make others believe, you need to embrace and take pride of your strengths. Keep going back to your curriculum vita, your biography and you will be surprised to see how many things you can do.

Get the old photo album out

Its the rare occasion that we get the old and dusty photo album or box with pictures out. As we turn the pages, along with the memories, aspects of ourselves- long forgotten- revisit. Celebrations for yet another milestone, the proud moments, the performances, your first job, the product of your life are all there to remind you how multi-faceted you are.

At home, work and elsewhere

You have left traces of your talents everywhere. Take a good look around the house. It is the hedge fence you grew, the decorating of your room, the picture hanging on the wall you drew, the quilt you made, the iced cake on the table, the framed degrees and certificates. At work, it is the customer calling back, the coworker who comes to you for advice and your plan the company decided to go with. At the community center you do your best as a volunteer. Out in the court you can score like a pro, on the dance floor you know the moves and when everyone panics you keep your cool.

Our individual strengths, our unique talents, however great or small accompany us throughout life. As we develop more career oriented skills we tend to forget or to downplay other just as important talents we possess. Acknowledging and recalling them will give us the added boost of confidence we seek as individuals and as professionals and will inspire us to develop them further.

A New Definition of Success

A New Definition of Success

How do you define success? Would you consider yourself successful? Most people define success as achieving some preconceived, future condition in their lives. If I can raise my children to be happy and confident adults, then I will be successful. Or when I make $100,000 a year, I will be a success. The problem with defining success based on an impending outcome is that by the time you reach "success", you have formed a new perception of what success means to you. And you have missed the thousands of "successful" moments in your life while trying to achieve that condition you call "success".

Success is not a destination - it is a journey. What if success meant being happy and content with your current state of being? This definition requires us to look at our personal desires and values - those things that are important to us. Brian Tracy, author of Maximum Achievement, identifies six requirements for success. These requirements are peace of mind, good health and a high level of energy, loving relationships, financial freedom, commitment to worthy goals and ideals, and a feeling of personal fulfillment or self-actualization. If you take a close look at each of these items, they are all about who you are, not what you do.

It is healthier to develop a three dimensional view of success:
1. Be the best you can be
2. Create an action plan for what you want in the future
3. Enjoy all that life has to offer right now

Let's compare the old definition of success with the new one. Using the old definition of success, my coaching practice will be considered successful when I have a full practice, I am making six figures, and I am in high demand for speaking. I will purchase all the right tools to market my business, and model myself after all the experts. Sounds pretty empty, doesn't it?

The new definition of success would say that I am successful if I like who I am as a coach. If I have satisfying and rewarding coaching relationships with clients that I love, then I am successful. If I have a vision of what my coaching practice looks like in the future, and have a plan in place to get there, then I am successful. Because I love what I do, I am successful. This means I am successful now, and will continue to be successful as long as I am content. And if for some reason my state of contentment should change, I need to ask myself what I need to change about me to bring about happiness and success.

Now, ask yourself if you are successful? Do you have peace of mind and good health? Are you enjoying loving relationships in your life? Do you have enough money to minimize your worries? Does your life have meaning and purpose, and are you committed to becoming everything you are capable of becoming? If you answered yes to these questions, then you are successful. If you answered no to any of these questions, then what do you need to change about you to achieve personal contentment? Look at your thoughts, feelings, desires, actions, dreams, habits and personality characteristics. You have everything you need inside of you to be a raving success!
